Forever young

"Each blossom still blooms in its field; each child still clutches your hand; each friend still lingers in your heart. And that is where time goes. Forever young, The Universe."  One of the regular messages I receive from The Universe (aka Mike Dooley).

Turning fifty has been one of many reflective moments in my life. Where has it gone? How will I fit it all in? And so on.

I've just started reading a book by P J O'Rourke about Baby Boomers because I'm interested in what this generation of people have achieved, especially as the Baby Boom years are 1948 to 1964, so I just scrape in under the door. I'd like to share with you the opening paragraph from the Prologue, called 'We are the World'.

"We are the generation that changed everything. Of all the eras and epochs, ours is the one that made the biggest impression - on ourselves. But that's an important accomplishment because we're the generation that created the self, made the firmament of the self, divided the light of the self from the darkness of the self, and said let there be self. If you were born between 1948 and 1964, you may have noticed this yourself."

The story I've made up about all this is that, thanks to the Baby Boomers, we live in a time when being an adventurer of the soul has become the norm as opposed to a luxury. We are more curious than ever before about what makes us tick.  And that continuous adventure brings with it continuous discovery.

My half century has caused me to be more determined than ever to continue my adventure and discover new things about myself. What about you?

When will you choose to discover new things about yourself and remain forever young?
