Failure is not an option!
I work within the health and fitness industry, and with some sportspeople. When I tell them there's no such thing as failure, only feedback, they dismiss the statement as a platitude. In their world, failure is not an option!
In one sense, believing that failure isn't an option focuses you on succeeding, or winning. It's a motivator, and that can't be bad. What happens when you don't succeed though? It's where the feedback from the experience becomes so valuable.
Are you on the right path? Your path, not anyone else's? Have you evaluated what your skills are and what you really enjoy doing, so that you are only playing to your strengths?
When you try a new approach, what have you learned? Do you keep putting that learning to good use?
If you ask these simple questions, then every approach is an opportunity for learning. It is never failure. It's feedback.
I'm sure great athletes learn something from every contest, even if it was a performance of a lifetime. What made the difference? And if you did it once, you can do it again. And I'm also sure that great businessmen learned from their endeavours too, adapted their approach, and moved forward.
There's no such thing as failure, only feedback. Not a platitude. Rather a lifelong education.
No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.
